Welcome to the staging ground for new communities! Each proposal has a description in the "Descriptions" category and a body of questions and answers in "Incubator Q&A". You can ask questions (and get answers, we hope!) right away, and start new proposals.
Are you here to participate in a specific proposal? Click on the proposal tag (with the dark outline) to see only posts about that proposal and not all of the others that are in progress. Tags are at the bottom of each post.

Site Name
TeX/LaTeX
Description
A community for TeX, LaTeX, and other derivative typesetting systems.
Topics
Topics covered would include:
- Anything to do with TeX, LaTeX, etc.
- Anything related to software that is used in conjunction with TeX + deriatives (eg. biblatex, latexmk, texstudio, etc.)
- Basically just https://tex.stackexchange.com
Exclusions
These topics or types of posts would be out of scope:
- Anything to do with mathematics that is not related to typesetting something (eg. "How do I solve [math question]")
Special Features
Perhaps some additional support for more complex LaTeX would be nice, such as tikz environments or some other packages, or even full LaTeX documents. Unsure how feasible this is.
Overlaps
There is some minimal overlap with the mathematics community, as TeX/LaTeX is primarily used for math. Additionally, there is also a small amount of overlap with the software community. However, the overlap for both of those is minimal.
Additional Info
On the software community, 6 different posts reference "latex" or "tex", so there is some already existing interest, it seems.
Also, although this would be a somewhat niche community, it is extremely useful to have a dedicated community to search/go to when you have an issue with TeX/LaTeX, as they're quite complex and imo not particularly suited for the software community because most questions would be about how to typeset something.
