I think the scope is too broad. From finance to medicine to IT? I'm not seeing it.

Counterargument: "Outdoors" is pretty broad, too.

as principles in risk and security are all shared between areas, I think it's still manageable. Plus that each area has its own category. I think the same argument can be applied with software development: each language has its own ecosystem, but the site is not too broad.

I think it should probably not mix up financial risks, safety (make sure nobody gets hurt) and security (make sure no bad guys gets hold of information), those are 3 completely different and mostly unrelated things. For example, I'm competent at safety-critical design, but a novice in security and completely uninterested in the finance-whatever.

Finance-related could be be a proposal of its own (someone proposed one in the past). Information security is already on-topic while related to programming at https://software.codidact.com/ and the parts that aren't, ie servers and networking, could in that case do with a proposal of its own. Safety should be covered by the relevant engineering site or if no such site exists, one could be proposed. SE got a general engineering site, for example.
