Should I truncate my page titles with ellipses for SEO?
I've seen SEO advice that the ideal length for a page title is 50 to 60 characters and that the maximum length is 80 characters. Our site relies on user generated titles for our content and our users often write titles that are significantly longer than this (up to 200 characters.) The full user generated article title appears in the `<h1>` tag at the top of the page, but should we be truncating the article title so that the contents of the `<title>` tag is only 80 characters? For example, if an article on our site is titled "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit saubrinco mormo, maiecinde chorea scaella stoi fo", which would be better in the `<title>` tag? - Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit saubrinco mormo, maiecinde chorea scaella stoi fo - My Brand - Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing… - My Brand
