When I use content from other sites on my own website, I don't know if I should call that "content aggregation" or "content syndication."
What are the definitions of "content aggregation" and "content syndication" and how do they differ?

Content Aggregation
Content aggregators tend to collect and link to lots of content. This is especially prevalent for news. Many news sites don't do their own reporting. Rather they display a list of headlines from other sites. You then need to click to the original site to read the whole story.
Content Syndication
Content syndication involves republishing entire articles from other sites.
Similarity
Both content aggregation and content syndication allow sites to show content to users that originated on some other site.
Both involve some amount of copying and search engines typically refuse to index pages that are built with only syndicated or aggregated content.
Content licenses for syndication often require links back to the original, so both usually involve linking to the original source of content. This can result in better search engine optimization (SEO) for the sites that created the content.
Differences
Content syndication always requires a license to copy the content without violating copyright law. Content aggregation copies just a blurb with a link and often relies on fair-use exceptions to avoid copyright infringement liability.
Content syndication allows users to view all the content on a single site which can be a better user experience than having to click to multiple sites with content aggregation.
For the site that wrote the content, branding will not be as prominent on syndicated content. Sites that desire strong brands may refuse to syndicate their content.
