#1: Initial revision
Quiet dice on a budget
I'm designing a board game that involves rolling several dice simultaneously each turn (usually between 1 and 20), and in testing I found that this is surprisingly loud. I'm aiming to keep the game reasonably cheap to make, so my first thought was to try to find a material that is affordable, durable, and reduces noise significantly. I'm now wondering whether there is anything else I can do to reduce noise. Is adding material to a dice tray the best way or am I missing other opportunities? Are there materials which would work on a budget? I'm using acrylic dice. I'm also open to changing the dice material if there's an affordable one, but other materials have so far seemed to be much more expensive than bulk buying acrylic dice.
