Turns out, there is a "Homing" button hidden in the settings menu.

Click on the cog wheel in the left sidebar of the touch screen to go to the settings page:

Once in the settings menu, there is the homing button on the lower left, which looks approximately like this:

This will move the base plate all the way to the bottom.
