Welcome to the staging ground for new communities! Each proposal has a description in the "Descriptions" category and a body of questions and answers in "Incubator Q&A". You can ask questions (and get answers, we hope!) right away, and start new proposals.

Are you here to participate in a specific proposal? Click on the proposal tag (with the dark outline) to see only posts about that proposal and not all of the others that are in progress. Tags are at the bottom of each post.

Sometimes in the Puzzles incubator, post times are incorrectly shown.

Here is an example from my Where is the large cook promotion post.

Under Lundin’s answer there are some comment threads (with incorrect times) as captured in the first spoiler block below.

When I select Show thread, the apparently correct times are shown as captured in the second spoiler block below.

Apparently correct times (in Show thread)

How strange. You obviously saw that, as you have screenshots, but I'm not seeing the difference now.... (6 comments)

I've since seen the same problem in a comment thread on Code Golf Codidact, so this is not specific to the Proposals community.

Inline thread shows incorrect relative time

Comment showing 5 minutes ago inline, not matching the absolute time from 2 days ago showing on hover

Thread page shows correct relative time

Comment showing 2 days ago in the thread page, matching the absolute time showing on hover

Note that the absolute timestamps that show up on hover are identical, and correct (I posted the comment 2 days ago).

I'm using Firefox on Fedora Linux.

I saw this seconds after navigating to the page. It had not been open for 2 days (as was my first thought when seeing the problem described in the question).

Refreshing the page did not change the incorrect "5 minutes ago" (even several minutes later). Even a hard refresh (Ctrl-Shift-R) did not change this from "5 minutes ago". Viewing in a private browsing window did show the correct "2 days ago". Viewing on mobile (Firefox on Android) showed the correct "2 days ago".

Having seen the correct "2 days ago" in private browsing and on my phone, I went back and hard refreshed again and the page I originally saw "5 minutes ago" still showed "5 minutes ago".

Opening the same page again by pasting in the URL in a new tab in the same window (not a private browsing window) gave the incorrect "5 minutes ago" again.
