Prevent kelp from growing past a certain height Question

How I do prevent kelp from continuing to grow past a certain height? For aesthetic purposes, I'd like to keep it to a specific height.

kelp is the part that eventually grows into a kelp_plant, and replaces the water block above with kelp. So if you're in creative mode, you can use commands to set the topmost part of the kelp stack to kelp_block, effectively stopping its growth. Do note the textures are a slight bit different, though, so the end will look a little bit abrupt, but that may not be noticeable from a distance.

/setblock ~ ~ ~ kelp_plant

It won't work in survival, though, unless commands are enabled and you're fine with cheating.

From the Minecraft wiki:

The age value of a newly planted kelp plant varies randomly from 0 to 24. Each time the kelp grows in height by one block, the newly generated top of the kelp plant increases its age by 1. When the top block of the kelp plant reaches an age of 25, it stops growing.

Therefore, you can limit kelp height by repeatedly placing down kelp until it has the age value necessary (height can be minimum 2). Point at the block and use the debug menu (F3) to see the value (right side of the screen).

If you're in creative, or have commands enabled in survival, you can use commands to place it (height can be minimum 1):

/setblock ~ ~ ~ kelp[age=25]

Bonemeal will always allow you to grow kelp past this limit, despite having placed the kelp down with a specific age.
