Welcome to the staging ground for new communities! Each proposal has a description in the "Descriptions" category and a body of questions and answers in "Incubator Q&A". You can ask questions (and get answers, we hope!) right away, and start new proposals.

Are you here to participate in a specific proposal? Click on the proposal tag (with the dark outline) to see only posts about that proposal and not all of the others that are in progress. Tags are at the bottom of each post.

What tags should these puzzles have?

The following posts in the Puzzles proposal have no tags other than the proposal tag. If we launch the community, those posts would be untagged. Can we get some tags for them?

They're probably untagged because we're all guessing about what tags would be helpful. Some tags already in use are grid-puzzles, tiling, calculation-puzzle, mathematics, riddle, logic-deduction, and geometry. Are these the right tags? Are there missing tags? How should the following questions be tagged?

If some of these posts should get any of our existing tags, let's go ahead and edit them. (I just did that for one.) Discussion here can then focus on adding or changing the tags we have, like the answers posted already do.

A 3d tag

We could have a tag "3d" for the following puzzles:

The first two puzzles would be good candidates for a `[3d-packing]` tag as a subtag of `[packing]`, b... (1 comment)

Drop -puzzle[s] suffixes

In an incubator shared by many proposals, sometimes tags need cross-community disambiguation. I assume that's how we ended up with these tags. After launch, we could drop the -puzzle and puzzles suffixes from the tags that have them.

Make grid-puzzles singular

For consistency with the other tags, we should rename the tag "grid-puzzles" to "grid-puzzle".

hidden-message?

Letter shifting is a cipher. Are there other kinds of ciphers that we might have puzzles about?

A comment suggests hidden-message, which is more general than cipher.

Maybe generalise a bit to `[hidden-message]`? (1 comment)

A layout or visual tag?

The following puzzles are about visual layouts but not grids:

If we have a tag for this, should grid-puzzle and the proposed 3d tags be children?
