Welcome to the staging ground for new communities! Each proposal has a description in the "Descriptions" category and a body of questions and answers in "Incubator Q&A". You can ask questions (and get answers, we hope!) right away, and start new proposals.

Are you here to participate in a specific proposal? Click on the proposal tag (with the dark outline) to see only posts about that proposal and not all of the others that are in progress. Tags are at the bottom of each post.

Question Do search engines use content user ratings for ranking purposes?
I have a Q&A site where users can upvote and downvote the questions and answers. Does Google use these votes as a ranking signal? Will pages that my users vote up rank better than pages that my users vote down? Does it matter if I make this data machine readable to Google using a schema? Does t...

Answer A: Income tax when selling a house
In US income tax system, your home is an asset referred to as "capital". When you sell your house, you might pay income tax based on your profit from the house. The tax terminology for that is "capital gains". So you aren't paying tax on the whole house, just on the difference between what you bought...

Answer A: Will an XML sitemap improve SEO in terms of crawling, indexing, and ranking?
XML sitemaps are not necessary for SEO. They don't affect Google's decisions about which URLs get indexed, nor do they help the pages in them rank better. The two SEO benefits of XML sitemaps are: - URL Discovery -- They tell search engine bots about your URLs. This lets the bots easily disc...

Answer A: How viable is generic SEO in 2023?
The fundamentals of SEO haven't changed in two decades: 1. Create great content. 2. Use the words and phrases for which you want to be found in search engines. 3. Ensure that search engines can crawl your site so that it gets indexed. 4. Grow your site's reputation by getting links from other s...

Comment Post #289033 I added some info about niches that require periodic content updates. If you want to know if you should focus energy on new content or on updating content, I think you should ask a new question with same specifics about your use case.

Answer A: Does feeding multiple luminous stones to each dondon produce better gems in TotK?
Feeding five luminous stones to each dondon provides the best chance for them to produce rare gems. According to this Redit thread, dondons may never produce diamonds when you feed each dondon only one luminous stone.

Answer A: Is fresh content always needed for SEO?
The flip side of "fresh" content is "evergreen" content which is useful for a long period of time. News sites need lots of fresh content because most users need the latest news, not news that is weeks old. Outside of news, you are likely to create content that will be useful and relevant for a long...

Answer A: Will improving my domain authority (DA) as measured by Moz help SEO?
Search engines don't use metrics published by Moz for ranking purposes directly. There is no guarantee that improving your domain authority, or any other metric published by third parties will help SEO with a particular search engine. Search engines use their own internal metrics that are similar...

Answer A: Why won't setting a CNAME DNS record for the domain apex work?
DNS specifications say that `CNAME` records can't co-exist with other records at the same level. That precludes using a `CNAME` at the apex because there are other record types that have to be attached to the apex. Most DNS providers won't let you put a `CNAME` at the apex because their DNS softw...

Question Does feeding multiple luminous stones to each dondon produce better gems in TotK?
In Zelda Tears of the Kingdom you can feed luminous stones to animals called "dondons" which then later produce gems. How do you optimize this process? You can feed each dondon up to 5 stones, but it isn't clear to me if there is an advantage to doing so. I've gotten some gems from feeding them ...

Question Is Google Analytics 4 able to integrate with domain properties from Google Search Console?
In the old Universal Analytics, I was unable to show stats from a "domain" property that I had created in Google Search Console. I was only able to integrate a "prefix" property. I haven't tried the new Google Analytics 4 yet but I'm wondering if Google has fixed that integration problem in it. ...

Question Is there an abundant source for hearty food ingredients in TotK?
When cooked in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom or in Breath of the Wild, hearty ingredients produce food that completely fill up your hearts and give you extra temporary hearts. They are some of the most useful ingredients. In BotW, hearty durians were my go-to ingredient because it was easy to harves...

Answer A: What is this electrical/ethernet conduit on the wall and how do I repair it?
That looks like it is a relative of the Legrand Wiremold 2300D Surface Nonmetallic Raceway System. Legrand Wiremold Surface Nonmetallic Raceway Systems Because you have 120 volt A/C power and low voltage communication wires in the same raceway, it should be a dual channel raceway. The one...

Comment Post #288905 Your installer will put a second circuit breaker box right next to your main breaker panel with a generator transfer switch in between. They will then move all the circuits to be powered by the generator over to the new generator sub-panel.

Comment Post #288905 And certain appliances like electric stoves, dryers, and A/C may be too big to put on the generator. You may have to pick and choose which circuits get power during an outage. Mine does my whole house EXCEPT for some of those big loads.

Comment Post #288905 With natural gas you can run indefinitely during a power outage. Mine has a propane tank that I would need to refill in about a week. Fuel costs for electricity you generate yourself with a generator will probably be triple what it costs from the grid though.

Answer A: What is the difference between content aggregation and content syndication
Content Aggregation Content aggregators tend to collect and link to lots of content. This is especially prevalent for news. Many news sites don't do their own reporting. Rather they display a list of headlines from other sites. You then need to click to the original site to read the whole story....

Comment Post #288905 The key for auto-starting generators is the term "standby." Standby generators typically run on propane or natural gas. If you already have a propane tank or a natural gas hookup it makes the installation easier. There are also non-standby generators that you have to plug into your panel and sta...

Comment Post #288905 I have a standby generator and solar and they work pretty well together. My solar installer says that there are no commercially available solutions out there that integrate batteries, solar, grid, and generator together. It would be pretty sweet if your batteries could be charged by the best availa...

Answer A: In AWS, do you need to use IPv6 on EC2 to enable IPv6 with an ELB?
Evidentially my site is working over IPv6 with just the ELB IPv6 enable and `AAAA` record. ELB listener configuration The load balancer does have configuration on how to route requests to EC2. Here is a screenshot of the configuration for me where it clearly says it is doing so over IPv4: ...
