Welcome to the staging ground for new communities! Each proposal has a description in the "Descriptions" category and a body of questions and answers in "Incubator Q&A". You can ask questions (and get answers, we hope!) right away, and start new proposals.

Are you here to participate in a specific proposal? Click on the proposal tag (with the dark outline) to see only posts about that proposal and not all of the others that are in progress. Tags are at the bottom of each post.

Comment Post #288435 This is tagged as belonging to Webmasters, but I honestly don't see the link... like at all. It fits better in Psychology, or, just being straightforward and admit the site in question is Codidact and go to Meta.

Comment Post #289033 After reading this answer, I can't help but be skeptical of it. It's a reasonable line of thinking, and probably what a search engine _should_ be interested in, but I do think it's stretching it a bit far in terms of a search engine's indexing's ability to achieve these things.

Question Adjust all weapons at once with the laser range finder
How do I make the laser range finder (LRF) adjust the targeting of all the weapons at once; primary & secondary armament, instead of only the primary or currently selected weapon?

Answer A: Laser rangefinder does not adjust main gun on BMP-3
Seems like it's by design; the LRF only adjusts the currently selected main weapon, and by default, that's the 30mm, not the 100mm. You have to change the weapon selection during battle in order to adjust the 100mm with the LRF. For example, bring up the multi-function menu and go to `Weaponry ->...

Question Laser rangefinder does not adjust main gun on BMP-3
When I use the laser rangefinder (default, L1+X), it's supposed to automatically adjust the gun targeting such that the range is in line with that of the target. That's also been my experience with every vehicle I've used until the BMP-3. The laser rangefinder only adjusts the 30mm 2A72 autocannon (p...

Comment Post #290755 That sounds like the media attention from Eastern Europe along with large protests, a few years ago, when the same sort of claims were made about Norwegian childcare services; "stealing" children from their parents. Anyway; thanks for the example.

Comment Post #290755 > For example there's plenty of reliable news site in Europe which are not in English. Like the newspapers I spend the majority of my news-reading time in? Yes, that's a big drawback of that list. I do still appreciate it. As for Al Jazeera, you're not the first one to tell me they're spreading...

Comment Post #290755 I do also think it would be a nightmare to deal with, yeah. You can for example take the current president of the US; a chronic liar. I've seen attempts at Politics SE to make sense of his administration's statements, actions, etc, but a lot of it has to come to down to a subjective interpretation. M...

Comment Post #290755 @Lundin > Perhaps it would be such a good idea to maintain a list of valid media sources. So that we don't end up with people quoting Fox News or random Youtube channels, if they quote anything at all... A partial such list is already maintained by Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki...

Comment Post #293224 > I like that idea of making the community tags mandatory That is not what I suggested either, and is not something I agree with, unless we have an optional "unspecified-community" for those rare cases where it makes sense to create a question before forming a proposal.

Comment Post #293224 > The dark tags on Meta indicate "you must choose one of these", so we can't do that (most posts won't need to specify a category) Yeah, I didn't mean using the exact same styling as those; I meant reserving a new colour for them. Arguably, I think the current styling for proposed communities sh...

Answer A: How should we indicate non-Q&A categories for Incubator posts?
Tags are definitely the right choice, and I don't see many other practical options. Every tag specifying a category other than Q/A, should be a descendant of a "category" tag. I do think a better alternative to prefixing each tag name with "category-" would be to make the parent tag special, in that ...

Comment Post #293212 Do you have any other sources or mentions of this, that can verify or otherwise provide more context? As a long-time contributor and a person with a status and reputation to u...

Comment Post #293043 That said, a whole lot of the screenshots of games I take myself, like Cyberpunk 2077, are sure to cause some conflict here, if I post them. And several people have called for these sites to be friendly to people of all ages. Opening a newspaper and seeing true, cruel and real violence and hate, like...

Comment Post #293043 Yeah, I agree, and I’ve argued similarly in the discussions in the chat, as well as the comment sections where it popped up. I don’t think you’re in chat, so there’s no point giving you a link there, but here’s one example on Proposals: https://proposals.codidact.com/comments/thread/10321 (actually, ...

Comment Post #293042 I’m open to various setups, be it contests or not. A framework/ruleset would mark the confinements, thus ensuring the set of content is meaningful, and not just a bunch of stuff thrown on the wall, with the hopes of putting smiles on people. But in the context of a competition/challenge, the rule...

Comment Post #293043 Unfortunately, common sense from whose perspective? What I consider perfectly fine, I often see many people have a problem with. Others again, don't. Comment Post #293042 Unfortunately, if each user can only post one screenshot per game, and this limitation lasts forever, I fear that we may eventually run out of potential postings. Besides, games can be rather diverse, and I don't see why we should invoke such wide limitations. That said, one screenshot per user (or p...

Question Highlighting the games we play with screenshots on Codidact
Something that could give us a bit of life and community beyond information-based content, would be a way for us to share experiences and highlights from our own game-playing experiences. Arqade SE has a "screenshot of the week", where weekly, on the meta site, they post a question asking for answers...

Comment Post #292844 That's an interesting way to engineer the implants for the purpose, and actually much simpler and straightforward than what I'd consider necessary, I guess because I'd want a solution that rules out self-control by default. With such implants, the individuals would still have empathy and moral choice...

Comment Post #292844 But then you'd preferably explain how the brain implants work, or provide the basis for it to be a written truth that brain implants are simple enough technology that the society has them available on a whim.

Comment Post #292844 I considered upvoting this question, since I like the premise, and the moral issues that it can tackle. On the other hand, I found the second long paragraph onwards to be somewhat too messy. There isn't an inherent issue in discussing this topic; it's perfectly fine for building a story or world....

Comment Post #292781 Yeah, I looked at a chart of the endings that somebody created and put on Reddit; quite useful. If the game actually does store a savepoint and simply returns to that without writing anything more to it, all should be fine.

Comment Post #292781 It's a bit hard to know for sure. Looking online, there seems to be so many conflicting answers to this, which makes me rather uncomfortable with using my current save to finish the game. With over 100 hours in the game already, I don't feel like spending another 20 finishing the game (I take a good ...

Answer A: How much exposure to nudity and pornography is there in Cyberpunk?
Unless you're strictly against nudity, and would avoid any game with it, I'd stop reading and rather enjoy the surprises the game throws at you. The game surprised me with their choices, and it was rather interesting to experience. It's in the background, and it's in the foreground. Nudity i...

Answer A: How prevalent is violence and gore in Cyberpunk?
Quite prevalent, but usually not something you'll be forced to stare at. But you definitely will see it. Combat is an integral part of the game, and combat does lead to gore in most every case. There is blood, explosions, and decapitated limbs. You can shoot or cut off large limbs like legs, arms, th...

Answer A: How are drugs portrayed in Cyberpunk, and how invasive on the gameplay experience do they feel?
The game is surprisingly comfortable despite featuring drugs as a common theme. The extent of drug variety, however, is not very large. The game does not glorify drug use, except for a few minor instances of alcohol. For the most part, drugs are symbols of the dystopian universe, and an element of...

Question Does the game's ending lock you out of existing progress and unfinished missions?
After starting act 3, is it possible to return to the game as before? Act 3's first mission, Nocturne OP55N1, is described as a "point of no return", but it also states that all side jobs and other activities will be locked until the end of all the main missions. Does that mean when act 3 is done, I ...

Question How are drugs portrayed in Cyberpunk, and how invasive on the gameplay experience do they feel?
I have previously played GTA V, but have since realized I would likely not be able to replay that game due to how uncomfortable the use of drugs in that game would make me feel. Cyberpunk obviously does feature a dystopian future where drugs most definitely will be featured, but are they are a common...
