Welcome to the staging ground for new communities! Each proposal has a description in the "Descriptions" category and a body of questions and answers in "Incubator Q&A". You can ask questions (and get answers, we hope!) right away, and start new proposals.

Are you here to participate in a specific proposal? Click on the proposal tag (with the dark outline) to see only posts about that proposal and not all of the others that are in progress. Tags are at the bottom of each post.

Answer A: What could be a believable reason for technologically advanced underground people to not notice the end of surface war for hundreds of years?
They can only see a cut-out of the reality Depending on their technological capabilities underground people might have something like periscopes, cameras or drones available to take a "peek" on the overground world (they could also have antennas for receiving radio signals, though). Maybe they ...

Answer A: What could be a believable reason for technologically advanced underground people to not notice the end of surface war for hundreds of years?
They lost the key The outside gate was rather "low tech" like a vault door. Then over time need arised to add layers of improved gate technology in the inner area. Also maybe adding several layers of defensive systems (turrets, mines, drones, ...). The innermost door now is a computer controlle...

Answer A: What could be a believable reason for technologically advanced underground people to not notice the end of surface war for hundreds of years?
Undergrounds is a garden of Eden The people undergrounds love to live there. They have all they need and have not developed an urge to go overground (yet).

Comment Post #292477 I don't see a problem in making it an "implicit rule" (of course presented somewhere accessible). If a question needing improvements show up in the "Q&A corpus" there can be helpful comments made about that the sandbox is a better fit right now. The post could be moved to the sandbox by mods for e...

Comment Post #292497 Interesting thought... the impression of opposition (not necessarily enemies) is strong, yes. Because the posts I made considering to be "embracing the idea of worldbuilding" all got downvoted. So I have the impression the readers of the Incubator need to be "convinced" of the idea of Worldbuildin...

Answer A: How can Worldbuilding successfully support creative exploration?
I'm assuming here that a community for Worldbuilding exists and the focus is therefore on "how to tackle certain question types". Not "are certain question types indicating that Worldbuilding is not fit for Q&A". For the latter, I have created a new question where we could offload those things to kee...

Question Is Worldbuilding fit for Q&A?
There is one simple answer to this question: No. No, it does not fit into the current concept of Q&A. The topic of Worldbuilding is fundamentally different to probably all other possible community-sites, except Philosophy which faces similar problems. I concur and admit to all hardliners, that there ...

Comment Post #292483 I am not too sure how the Wiki pages work on Codidact. Is there a working example page to look at somewhere? Would it be possible that a question like "How do I make a fire-breathing dragon?" is directly posted into the Wiki section and opens up an article about that? How are comments and "voting"...

Comment Post #292478 @#8046: I specifically asked for a special feedback by voting. I did not ask "How can I express my interest". I am not convinced that the react function gives a complete picture. Otherwise I would not have posted my question. I know that this feature exists. But I also know that there are people not ...

Answer A: Proposal authors can cause disruption by deleting their proposal
Since I am the proposal's author I'd like to give my two cents: The original idea to create that proposal was, because I figured Codidact is missing such a community. I proposed that with the intention of "attracting" more users with it. Because I thought this would also be beneficial to other com...

Comment Post #292484 @#64277 I really thank you for your feedback. But please note: I know about the react thing. I understood them, I have found them because I wanted to found a new community, I have reacted. But for example: Melchizadek the author of the only question and even the proposal poster himself did not. Any n...

Comment Post #292484 @#64277 Don't worry about the Movie&Literature/Anime question thing. I deleted the proposal. I should do so with the question as well. It is nice that you see that it is endorsed. The signs are good that is true. But there is more to it. I know the trouble from WB:SE. If those things are not addre...

Comment Post #292478 @#64277 I meant of course the question to which this posting and this comment belongs ;) I know that Olin probably does not intent to be an active user but maybe a once-in-a-while participant. That is okay. I call this "a supporter". But Olin implied in his answer I would get a clear picture of t...

Comment Post #292478 I've seen you have even posted on a (the only one right now) Worldbuilding question... yet you did not register on the proposal. AND also not upvoted on my posting... That is kind of confusing me.

Answer A: Supporters for a Worldbuilding community on Codidact
There is a fundamental flaw: The proposals are not read by everyone. And also new users will not find them first thing and also do not know that the "react" function exists. As you might have noticed, not even the proposal poster has reacted on his own proposal ;) I also do not want to know who wi...

Comment Post #292477 I see your answer as constructive input (thank you!) - although I am of a different attitude towards "bad" questions. I totally agree that in the end you want to have a corpus of well written questions with a topic that can be answered in a Worldbuilding context. I also agree on the point of "nois...

Comment Post #292480 I see your point and can understand the benefit of closing. Thank you for the feedback! On the other hand I also know the "psychological" side of closing and the effects on users who do not understand "what has happened" now. They abandon their question once it got closed without proper message th...

Comment Post #292468 They do not mean anything in this question though. Because I am not asking for opinions about the question without proper feedback. And I suspect feedback from those who are invested into the topic and will participate actively. Or at least share their experience and insights on the topic. I despi...

Comment Post #292461 If you mean backside of the head, that would probably be complicated. But having them at the torso at the back or the sides (near the lungs that is) this would be plausible. Also near the throat on the neck could be plausible. But breathing in general is more like a "pumping" (in-out through mouth...
