Posting as a comment because I don't feel like doing a literature review.

A: Can I set up a regular machine like the Steam Deck? The Steam Deck uses a customized Arch with KDE and Wayland. The "gaming mode" is basically Steam running in Big Picture mode, but it uses the minimal window manager gamescope to avoid running the heavy KDE UI which you don't use while gaming. The "desktop mode" is just straight up Arch with KDE and s... (more) |

Question | — |
One cert with many domains, or one domain per cert? I've noticed that it's possible to use `DNS Name` multiple times, so that a TLS certificate will cover multiple domains. Alternatively, you could generate a separate cert for each domain. What are the implications of choosing one approach or the other, in terms of security and maintainability? ... (more) |

While that is true, I was thinking more in terms of "what's right" than "what's required". I think in many places, the actual requirements on waste are quite loose (especially for residential/individuals as opposed to commercial) and even when they're more elaborate they rarely seem to be enforced mu... Question | — |
What can I do with used disposable batteries? What can I do with used up disposable batteries, such as AA/AAA? It used to be that these had to be separated so they can be put through a special remediation process. However, apparently that was driven by heavy metals used in the batteries, and nowadays they don't use the heavy metals anymore, s... (more) |

Recycle Site Name Recycling I opted for this name because everybody knows what it is and gets the idea. It is also easy to think of a logo for it :) However, you're supposed to try to first reduce, then reuse, and only after recycle. Hopefully site culture can reinforce that notion, to counteract the sit... (more) |

Interesting point! I read *Species*, albeit a long time ago, it's an interesting book but I don't recall if he grounded everything in general philosophy or restricted himself to biology alone. Victorian writings seem like they're often eclectic with their philosophies.

Question | — |
Can you always interpose an intermediate effect into any causal chain? Consider the following claim: >In any causal relationship X -> Y, it is always possible to find an intermediate effect A such that X -> A -> Y. This is a claim about nature, not our currently available scientific theory about it. So for example even if current physics claims a neutron decays di... (more) |

I think there's multiple questions here:
1. Correlation vs. causation
2. Feedback loops masking causation
3. Unintended consequences
4. Response variable being measured turns out to be not what we actually wanted
I can see how you feel they're related, but it would be better to ask them sepa... (more) |

Question | — |
How does science generalize local results to global scale? Science tends to discover knowledge by performing experiments in the lab. For example, suppose we have a hypothesis that a volume `V` of atmospheric air, when compressed quickly to a certain ratio, will heat up by a temperature difference `dT1`. The experiment is straightforward, and let's say it ... (more) |

How does climate change research establish causality? How does climate change research establish causality? I've always felt like the most comfortable mouse for me is heavy and large. On the weight, you are probably right. But on the size, I think it might be a matter of grip style as well.

But if you're trying to say that it would be a better question if it did not exclude mice with only 2 buttons and a wheel click - I feel like those are pretty easy to find, since it almost seems to be a standard thing these days. I'm happy to change it - I had trouble phrasing the title. As I see it, with mouse buttons there are 3 levels:
1. Just the basic left/right click
2. Middle click (wheel or dedicated middle button)
3. Extra buttons that are almost never used by default by software (button 4, 5, 6... usually assig... (more) |

A: Where do I get a high-quality, ergonomic mouse with a dedicated middle click button? The mouse market is divided into two main areas: Cheap, no-name brand mice that are very low quality and hard to use "Gamer mice" which are premium-priced, use high quality parts, attempt (with varying success) to consider ergonomics in design, and have a lot of flashing RGB lights There are... Where do I get a high-quality, ergonomic mouse with a dedicated middle click button? Where can I get a high-quality, ergonomic mouse with a dedicated middle click button? I use "ergonomic" loosely, in the sense of "doesn't hurt to use all day". It doesn't have to have a special ergonomic design - just don't be as awful as many generic mice. I hate having to click the mouse whee... (more) |

A: Is the historical method a scientific method? The scientific method is not the mainstay of historical research. As a rule, history deals with events of the past. How do I find a good dumb TV? A lot of TVs on the market these days are "Smart TVs" which I don't want. I've had smart TVs in the past and found that I don't use any of their features. I don't think it would be unnatural. The question has to be in English, so that users can understand what's going on. But there's nothing stopping people from providing the local language term in the answer.
As an example, Stack sites like DIY, Money, Law, Travel often have people asking in Englis... (more) |
