Welcome to the staging ground for new communities! Each proposal has a description in the "Descriptions" category and a body of questions and answers in "Incubator Q&A". You can ask questions (and get answers, we hope!) right away, and start new proposals.
Are you here to participate in a specific proposal? Click on the proposal tag (with the dark outline) to see only posts about that proposal and not all of the others that are in progress. Tags are at the bottom of each post.

That's true, we could. But then what would you put in the description of `base`?
Right now it's hardly a problem at all. But it seems like it's bound to get worse, if/when the incubator gets more active. (more) |

I actually don't know what happens to the tags in the incubator, when the questions get moved to a new site. Would it be a copy, or a move? Or are tags global to the whole site, and not just one section? (more) |

@#53890 Wait, how's that gonna work? We'd have the same questions duplicated here and there. That seems kind of redundant to me. I thought it was assumed that if something is on topic in one place, it's not in others. (more) |

Another advantage of "webmaster" is that most people will have a pretty good idea of what it means, and if they don't but Google it, they will get relevant results. It is also mentioned in https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc2142 (more) |

Well, it used to be that websites were static, and many webmasters were also HTML devs, because given the simplicity of HTML it made little sense to divide labor there. These days, "webapps" seems to be ever growing, and typically "running" the site and building the webapp are very different things. ... (more) |

A: How do I make new cities? The "Make City" tool is not for creating cities. It's more like a palette, where you can pick a few related buildings, and plop them down more efficiently (supposedly) than going to their usual menus. It's more like the quickbar. To create cities/areas (the ones that label the map and are used to ... (more) |

A: How do I make money in early game? There are a few ways. Some of them are somewhat exploity, so it is up to you what you consider "fair" - although the game is in early access so the balance is not perfect either. How do I make money in early game? On harder difficulties, it's easy to run out of money in the beginning and get stuck with no way to progress. How can I create a positive cash flow early on? (more) |

A: Should Steam be on topic for the Video Games site? I think at least some aspects of Steam are already on topic as per the existing proposal, and simple logic/common sense: >Usage of Steam to run games (eg. Proton, updates, compatibility modes, overlay) This would fall under "game utilities". >Using SteamAPI to develop Steam-integrated games ... (more) |

Question | — |
Tag collision between proposals If/when we accumulate many proposals, I think we might run into an issue with tags colliding. For example, suppose someone adds the `base` tag to Video Games ask about base building in strategy games. Then, someone creates a Chemistry proposal, and uses the `base` tag for questions about solutions... (more) |

A: How to prevent power outages when rebuilding power lines? A good strategy is building the main power lines in a ring. Suppose you have some power source, like the customs house connection or a power plant, and a single power transformer which will go to your neighborhood. Build power lines in two directions out from the power source, and connect them ... (more) |

Question | — |
How to prevent power outages when rebuilding power lines? When I want to extend my power lines, I first have to delete some so I can add a power switch. Sometimes I also have to delete entire power line sections so I can move them further out. But in realistic mode, you can't construct instantly, and while I wait for the switch or new line to be built by wo... (more) |

A: How do I construct my first buildings? The customs houses provide some "foreign workers". These workers are assumed to come from neighboring provinces for temporary work. You need to purchase a bus for your construction office and set the customs house as the source of workers. These foreign workers have some caveats: You pay a pre... (more) |

How do I construct my first buildings? Provide a template for proposals? Currently, clicking Start Proposal starts you with a blank text box. There is some general advise in the "Posting Tips" box. However, it is not clear what exactly the format should be, what points are optional and what is mandatory. The natural reaction is to look at existing proposals and copy fr... (more) |

I'm actually not sure what format the log from the question is. I know that it is indeed commonly used by many webservers, although "common log format" is not really very specific. There are *many* log formats which are "common".
