Welcome to the staging ground for new communities! Each proposal has a description in the "Descriptions" category and a body of questions and answers in "Incubator Q&A". You can ask questions (and get answers, we hope!) right away, and start new proposals.
Are you here to participate in a specific proposal? Click on the proposal tag (with the dark outline) to see only posts about that proposal and not all of the others that are in progress. Tags are at the bottom of each post.

Right, I was trying to answer the general question and not just the one about _your_ game. Other designers might be less involved in the community to begin with and think it could be a support substitute. (more) |

Answer | — |
A: Can Tabletop Games Codidact be given as the support site for a board game? My personal opinion, not speaking for anyone else: A user-run community can't generally be the support site for your game or other product, but it can be a support site. Your players can get answers here from other players, just like for other games, and if people posting answers (like you!) prov... (more) |

Specific ML model-training questions might be too narrow, but questions about how algorithms work or the tradeoffs in choosing them might not be. I'm not fluent in ML; I've just heard ML people talk about those things, hence my question. (more) |

Machine learning also has models and is generally under the "AI" umbrella, though it's not generative. It looks like ML is included here too, but all the early bullets are specifically about generative AI, so could you clarify? Thanks. (more) |

You're not eligible to make further contributions, but if you already have IRA money from previous years, you don't lose the benefit from it. The principal is always yours (minus early-withdrawal penalty if you do), and you can invest it in whatever options the broker makes available. (more) |

Answer | — |
A: Income tax when selling a house No, because you get to account for the basis. If you bought a house at \\$300k and later sold it for \$500k, then only the $200k profit is under consideration for income taxes. Further, the federal government taxes regular income (like your salary) and longer-term investment income at different r... (more) |

Re "there are limits on maximum income on these IRAs" -- the limits are on how much money you can add to the IRAs, and those limits are based on your income, but as far as I'm aware, there are not limits on the income that IRA money can produce for you. (more) |

Answer | — |
A: What happened to Finance questions on Incubator Q&A? There were two questions, both with flags and several downvotes (no upvotes). One was deleted for plagiarism. The other included a bunch of links and asked for counter-arguments; it was broad and vague and the question here did not contain the salient points. People would have had to go read half ... I posted an answer that explains our reasoning, but a couple quicker things:
1. We can make Incubator Q&A the default (good idea). I've mentioned that in my answer and if no one objects I'll do that soon.
2. On your DRY point, I was expecting most tag descriptions for proposal tags here to sta... (more) |

Answer | — |
A: Use tags instead of posts to describe sites? We talked about using tag descriptions instead of the Descriptions category, but there were a few issues: - We want the people interested in a proposal to be able to collaboratively edit the description. That's not possible with tag descriptions today. (Yes that's on our list.) - We wanted it... (more) |

Thanks for the addition and the suggestion! Good point that that depends a lot on use cases; that buying guide from 2015 is _not_ evergreen. :-) (more) |

New content could mean whole new pages, or it could mean edits to existing ones (or both of course). Editing evergreen content to keep it up to date seems like it would be valuable; is it, from an SEO perspective? Could you address edits, or is that a large-enough topic that I should ask a separate... (more) |

Question | — |
Where can I find a simplified Railways of the World map for player reference? I've just gotten a copy of Railways of the World after playing and enjoying a few games. The eastern-US map is physically very large and "artistic". I and some of my friends have vision problems that make it hard to see things especially near the center of the board, except by hovering over the tab... (more) |

Ooh, natural-gas supply -- nice. (I have gas heating already.) I didn't mention it in the question because I didn't want to stray too far afield of what I thought my question was about, but managing the gasoline for "regular" generators (the kind I knew about before now) was quite unappealing.

@#36396 ah, that's picked up more votes since last I looked. I was remembering [this meta question](https://outdoors.codidact.com/posts/74908), where I got pushback.

Thanks. I was assuming that solar would involve a grid interface; I'm not trying to go off-grid entirely. I've heard of setups where there's solar, a household battery that works during outages, and the ability to sell power back to the grid. This is what I assume I would end up with later.

Question | — |
House-level battery backup now, solar panels later -- what do I need to know? In the last few years my area has seen increased power outages -- usually a few hours, occasionally longer. I'd like to defend against these better so that a poorly-timed outage doesn't ruin my whole day. I'm thinking, in particular, of whole-house battery backup. I know that this kind of batter... A: Are questions about selling one's crafts allowed? I'm inclined against the business/legal aspects of this per this answer, but if there are questions specific to the "craft" part of selling, like optimal booth/display setup for a fair or protecting displayed crafts from heat/rain/sun damage, those seem ok to me. These are questions that are more ab... (more) |

Not an answer but maybe a starting point: I've seen wood crafts that were finished with (linseed?) oil, not polyurethane. Oil of course has a scent too and I don't know if there are oils that are both effective and non-interfering, but maybe this is a starting point for research? (more) |

Question | — |
Home Improvement versus a more general "home stuff" community? Would the proposed Home Improvement community be open to questions about "house stuff" more broadly? Question | — |
Do you play with all the cards in a two-player game of Splendor? I'm used to four-player games of Splendor, with high competition for the cheap, engine-building cards in tier 1. I've now played a couple of two-player games, and with cards much more plentiful, the feel of the game is very different. Both of us ended up with more cards than we're used to, and "clu... (more) |

Question | — |
Are blue eggs special in Wingspan? I played Wingspan at a convention recently and then bought a copy of the game. When unpacking it, I noticed that there was a large bag of mixed egg tokens and a smaller bag containing only blue egg tokens. In the convention game I played, all the eggs were mixed together and color didn't matter. T... (more) |
